Fiscal Assistant to support the financial operations of the agency by assisting with accounting, financial recordkeeping, and compliance related to grant-funded and federally funded programs. This position plays a critical role in ensuring accurate financial documentation, proper use of funds, and adherence to federal, state, and funding-source requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with accounts payable and receivable, including invoice processing, coding, and payment tracking.
- Review invoices and ensure that appropriate backup is present and research discrepancies.
- Ensure expenses are properly allocated and supported by grant guidelines.
- Enter financial transactions into accounting systems accurately and timely.
- Prepare deposits.
- Perform petty cash disbursements and reconciliations.
- Review and enter Energy Share of ND applications for payment.
- Assist with payroll processing, including timesheet review and personnel cost allocation.
- Track personnel costs by funding source and program.
- Maintain payroll documentation in accordance with funding and labor regulations.
- Maintain organized fiscal records in compliance with audit and funding requirements.
- Respond to internal and external fiscal inquiries as appropriate.
- Assist with bank and account reconciliations.
- Provide required documentation for preparation of financial reports for grants and funders.
- Monitor allowable costs and notify Finance Director of potential compliance concerns.
- Ensure compliance with agency fiscal policies and all funding, legal, and regulatory requirements including OMB Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200).
- Assist during audits, monitoring visits, and fiscal reviews.
- Answer telephone calls, greet visitors, and maintain office tracker system.
- Always maintain confidentiality of financial and personnel information.
- Provide administrative support to the Finance Director.
- Adhere to the Community Action Code of Ethics and confidentiality policy.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support agency operations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and fiscal procedures
- Associate degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field preferred
- 1-3 years of experience in accounting or fiscal support preferred
- Familiarity with grant-funded or federally funded programs preferred
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g. MIP Fund Accounting) and Microsoft 365 products
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Professionalism and discretion when handling confidential information
- Hardworking, dependable, and able to work independently or as part of a team

Teacher in our 3-5 Head Start program in Valley City. The Head Start Teacher will be responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate educational environment for young children by managing a preschool classroom including lesson planning, directing teacher assistants, and tracking outcomes.

This position assists in delivering the Head Start curriculum, promoting school readiness, and ensuring compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and local policies.

- Be familiar with developmentally appropriate practices of children ages 3 to 5.

Food Service Worker seeking a Food Service Worker in our 0-3 Head Start program at our Jamestown site. This position will prepare breakfast and snacks, serve the noon meal, menu planning, maintaining records and food service areas. As well as some light housekeeping and covering breaks in the classroom.
Requirements for this position are a valid driver license, ability to lift 50lbs, and be able to work both independently and as part of a team.
