Current open positions:

Housing Coordinator - Community Action Region VI is seeking an individual to be responsible for the day-to-day coordination and oversight of the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) and related energy conservation and rehab programs. This position ensures compliance with federal, state, and agency regulations and provides support to staff, contractors, and clients to ensure successful program delivery.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work collaboratively with all staff to maintain compliance with program regulations.
  • Manage and supervise the day-to-day operations of Weatherization, Furnace/Cooling, and energy/rehab programs.
  • Maintain program records, reports, inventory, and client files in compliance with DOE, state, and agency requirements.
  • Prepare and submit required reports to funding sources and agency management.
  • Participate in audits, monitoring visits, and training as required.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures, and training.
  • Recognize staff training needs and assist in training Energy and Rehab staff.
  • Participate in program budgeting and monitor budget activity, including tracking average cost per unit (ACPU), to ensure compliance with funding requirements and production goals.
  • Monitor and assess the programs through quality control inspections, desk inspections, household input, and staff evaluations.
  • Serve as a liaison between clients, staff, contractors, and state program representatives.
  • Conduct job site inspections to ensure timely completion and quality of work.
  • Ensure compliance with program health, safety, and energy efficiency standards.
  • Maintain department as a lead safe certified firm and maintain individual lead renovator certification.
  • Maintain good household-agency relations, act professionally and positively represent the agency.
  • Assist with community outreach and promotion of the energy and rehab programs.
  • Take the initiative to identify problems, use judgment to find appropriate solutions and follow through on resolving issues in a timely manner.
  • Implement new programs to ensure agency continuity and potential expansion of services within low-income communities.
  • Implement changes to program services based on updated federal/state regulations, agency policies, or community needs.
  • Adhere to the Community Action Code of Ethics and confidentiality policy.

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITY: Supervises the Housing Department with approximately 10 staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Two-Year Degree in Construction Management or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Technical experience in the areas of construction, electricity, carpentry, heating, ventilation and/or air conditioning.
  • Knowledge of DOE Weatherization Assistance Program or similar federal/state energy programs preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and program regulations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and client database systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Hardworking, dependable, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Professionalism and discretion when handling confidential information.
  • Valid driver license.

Certifications (may be required or obtained after hire):

  • Building Performance Institute (BPI) certification(s) – Energy Auditor, Quality Control Inspector, etc.
  • Lead Safe Renovator training.
  • OSHA safety certifications.

This position is 40 hours per week with full benefits through the school year. 


Teacher in our 3-5 Head Start program in Valley City.  The Head Start Teacher will be responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate educational environment for young children by managing a preschool classroom including lesson planning, directing teacher assistants, and tracking outcomes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans and activities that align with Head Start performance standards and curriculum frameworks.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of children.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments of children's progress and use this information to plan and adapt instructional strategies to meet the individual needs of each child.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with families, including regular communication about their child's progress and well-being.
  • Collaborate with other teachers, support staff, and community partners to ensure the successful delivery of program services.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to children's progress, attendance, and health.
  • Create a safe and stimulating environment that promotes exploration and learning.
  • Ensure that all health and safety guidelines are followed, including administering medication and responding to emergencies.
  • Work collaboratively with all staff to maintain compliance with all program regulations.
  • Adhere to Community Action Code of Ethics and Confidentiality policy.
  • All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate, bachelors or advanced degree in Early Childhood Education or an associate degree in a field related to early childhood education. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with young children, parents, and coworkers.
  • Dependable and able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Preference given to candidates with early childhood experience or knowledge of Head Start performance standards and curriculum.

This position is 40 hours per week with full benefits through the school year. 


Case Manager - Assesses, plans, coordinates, and monitors services for individuals and families facing various challenges within our service area.  Advocates for clients and connects them with resources and support services to address their needs effectively.  Works closely with clients to develop individualized action plans, provide ongoing support, and empower them to achieve their goals towards self-sufficiency and improved quality of life.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work collaboratively with all staff to maintain compliance with all program regulations.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients’ needs, strengths, and barriers to self-sufficiency.
  • Develop personalized action plans in collaboration with clients, setting achievable goals and timelines.
  • Coordinate and facilitate access to community resources, including but not limited to housing assistance, healthcare services, employment training, education, childcare, and transportation.
  • Provide ongoing case management support to clients, including regular check-ins, progress reviews, and adjustments to action plans as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and up to date client records, case notes, and documentation in accordance with agency policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and evaluate client progress towards goals and collect data to measure program outcomes and impact.
  • Adhere to the Community Action Code of Ethics and confidentiality policy.
  • All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work or related human service field preferred.
  • Prior experience in case management, social services, or related field preferred.
  • Knowledge of community resources and social service programs.
  • Excellent organizational skills and time management skills.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and advocacy skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures.

0-3 Caregiver – Valley City - Community Action Region VI is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Caregiver to provide quality care for infants and toddlers in both our Jamestown and Valley City Early Head Start programs. The Early Head Start Caregiver will be responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment that promotes the physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development of young children.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide nurturing and responsive care to infants and toddlers in a group setting.
  • Create a safe and stimulating environment that promotes exploration and learning.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of children.
  • Observe and document children's growth and development and use this information to inform curriculum and individualized plans.
  • Build positive relationships with children and families and maintain open communication with parents and guardians.
  • Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment, including cleaning and sanitizing toys and equipment.
  • Ensure that all health and safety guidelines are followed, including administering medication and responding to emergencies.
  • Work collaboratively with all staff to maintain compliance with all program regulations.
  • Adhere to Community Action Code of Ethics and Confidentiality policy.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Must obtain CDA that the agency will assist with.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with young children, parents, and coworkers.

  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Preference given to candidates with early childhood experience, education, or CDA.
